Nikon just announced a new 70-200 lens. No, not a replacement for the drooling 70-200 f/2.8 lens.
A number of things are interesting about it, as notes Moose Peterson on his blog.
First, it is cheaper by $1000. Second, it is lighter. Third it is a full frame.
This last piece is an important bit of info, especially for a guy like me looking at the full frame D600. Peterson, points to this lens as a travel lens to replace his current DX-only lens.
My plan is clear: the D600 to replace (actually complement) my venerable D90, the new 70-200 f/4 to replace (actually complement) my also very venerable 18-200 VR II lens *and* the 70-200 f/2.8 for sports photography and portraits.
Simple. Just missing the money piece ;-).
